Reviews
Used to be called Thai Smile. Not sure if its new owners/chef or a rename, but I sought it out given Thai Smile's great reviews. I ordered takeout (pad see ew, pad thai, and green curry) and I am glad to say that all were fantastic! First impression: The to-go bag was very well packed. Last time I ordered a soup to go from an Asian place, it spilled in transit and made the bottom of the bag rip out .... so packing is important to me! Staff was extremely friendly at pickup and went out of their way to assure I was happy after asking for some hot sauces. But mostly importantly, the food was surprisingly AMAZING for the area. I highly recommend this restaurant, as a frequent visitor to excellent Thai establishments in other cities more known for Thai cuisine. (Denver has many great Thai places, having a huge population of immigrants. GJ, not so much! My past attempts were to Chinese places that branch into Thai, and have always been disappointed.) Green Curry soup was phenomenal and plentiful. I recommend getting extra rice as I ran out 1/2 way through the soup. I got mild but even then it had a slight heat that built up. It was a great coconut curry broth that was rich in lemongrass. Pad Thai (my test for a new place I haven't visited before) was top notch. Also got it mild, and not a trace of heat in it until I added hot sauce to taste. It was thankfully NOT overly sauced or sweet, a common mistake found in lesser Thai places. My only complaint was I wanted more green onion in the dish. Thai Chili 98 is a hidden gem in Orchard Mesa and I will be returning every time I am in GJ visiting the folks. Seriously good and worth the few extra minute drive beyond downtown GJ. It's right next to the Napalese restaurant in a commercial complex off Hwy 50 just east of True Value Hardware. It's a little hard to find as the store front is blocked from the road by a building with a latino market and smoke shop. You can easily access it from True Value side or the main entrance for the complex.
Very good food and service! Might even be better than Thai smile. I had the panang curry, excellent.
